– More than anything, it saves you time. And over time, it saves you money. Think about how much money you spend on eyeliner and the special makeup remover to get off all of the waterproof eyeliner you were wearing all day (or night).
– Do you go to the beach a lot, workout on the regular, swim in the ocean, or simply want to wake up feeling extra pretty? If so, then permanent eyeliner is the answer for you. Tattoo eyeliner is smudge proof and waterproof, as you would imagine. That simply solves so many female problems when it comes to make up and beauty routines.
– Getting ready for work and getting ready to go out just got a lot faster… and a whole lot easier. You don’t have to worry about breathing out slow-and-steady to make sure your eyeliner lines are smooth and match on both sides of the eyes. You can skip that entire part of your makeup routine.
The phrase “eyeliner tattoo“ may sound a bit scary to some people. But it’s actually really nice. A lot of women simply choose to have their lash line tattooed so it makes their mascara “pop” without having to put on any eyeliner. It also gives the appearance of natural beauty without looking like you are even wearing any eyeliner. It is the most natural route to go. It gives a lady a chance to accentuate her features without having to put on makeup.
An eyeliner tattoo, a type of permanent makeup, is only tattooed into the top layers of skin which means it will fade over time and is very much on the surface of the skin.
Traditional tattoos are placed into much deeper layers of the skin. Traditional tattoos are meant to last as long as possible, while cosmetic tattooing is more of a semi-permanent procedure, meaning touch-ups must be done every 12 to 18 months.
Tattoo eyeliner can last anywhere from 8 to 18 months depending on the person’s lifestyle, skin type, health, how well they take care of the skin on their eyes, and it depends on the application of the ink by the permanent makeup artist. (This is another very important reason to make sure you choose a qualified permanent makeup artist that you trust!)
Also, some medications can affect how long the tattooed eyeliner stays on. If you are taking medications it is very important to let your permanent makeup artist know which one(s).
Keep in mind that each person is different and has genetics that are unique to them, affecting how their body maintains permanent ink.
A touch up is generally recommended every 1 to 2 years. in order to freshen up the line and color. Some people may need it sooner, while others may be able to wait a year and a half before they need to go in for a touch-up. Again, it really varies person to person, but in general, a touch-up every year or two is recommended.
Numbing cream is applied prior to the permanent makeup artist beginning the session of tattooing your new, beautiful eyeliner. Clients do not report feeling pain, but those with a lower pain threshold may have moments where it feels a bit uncomfortable. However, the majority of clients feel fine and relaxed because the numbing cream does its magic.
For first timers…
Altogether the session can take anywhere from 2 to 3 hours. This includes the first 30 minutes where the makeup tattoo artist places numbing cream on the area that will receive the color. Depending on whether you are simply having your lash line tattooed or if you are having a thicker design across the eyelid, it will take less or more time. Everything is performed and finished in a single session.
For returning clients...
Touch-ups generally get done within an hour to an hour and a half. The first time ever getting your liner done, however, it will take a bit longer, especially since you are having your own style created for the first time.
There is no downtime needed after your permanent eyeliner procedure. Feel free to go about your everyday activities for the most part. For care instructions, see below:
– Clients should put Vitamin A&D ointment on the treated area for the next 7 to 10 days (a few times a day), keeping it moisturized. If you have very oily skin, you only need to apply the ointment the day after the procedure. Your permanent makeup artist should discuss this with you after/before your procedure.
– Do not wash the eye area for a few days, giving it time to heal and not get irritated from fash wash, scrubbing, etc.
– Do not wear eye makeup for a week or so, giving the area time to heal without any harsh touch or rubbing.
– Do not do any strenuous exercise where you will sweat profusely, as we don’t want sweat running down onto the newly treated eye area.
– No swimming, saunas, or workouts that cause moisture, water, or sweat to get on the treated area for a full week.
– Do not let direct sunlight on the area for a week, so it may heal without any harsh sun exposure. Remember, you want to protect the newly treated area for a good week to 10 days.
